Art on Paper is a niche fair dedicated to the best in contemporary drawing.
During 4 days, each gallery displays a solo show featuring an established or emerging artist focussing on her/his drawing practice. This year, the fair takes place in the present exhibition halls of BOZAR (Circuit Ravenstein) and will double in size, welcoming 50 Belgian and international contemporary art galleries.

Also new is a curated hall, the PROJECT SPACE.
“Art on Paper is not a cabinet of drawings, it is a show where we question the medium, where we invite artists who question the limits, or play with it.” (Marie Cantos, artistic director of Art on Paper)
The Project Space specifically will be fully integrated in this desire to move and expand. It will discover 6 young artists but also the 6 structures presenting them: these will be very young galleries or “non-profit spaces” or “artist-run spaces” that make contemporary creation. This space will be dedicated to the rubbing of the eye and drawing, contrasting them.

À cette occasion, nous sommes très heureuses de présenter les recherches de Marianne Mispelaëre (1988, France), à travers une sélection pointue d’oeuvres de l’artiste, ainsi qu’un ensemble de productions inédites.

Marianne Mispelaëre’s work examines social relationships, language and communication systems, the role of the legible and of the invisible in our societies, the permeability between an isolated action and its environment as well as the writing of History. She observes, produces and reproduces with concise, simple, and precise gestures inspired by current social phenomena. In her drawings, she powerfully deploys gestures, media and signs. These elements can be apprehended at various scales and through various media, ranging from a sheet of paper to a wall, from photographic image and video to performative action.

Marianne Mispelaëre (b. 1988, France) has graduated from HEAR-Strasbourg (2012). She won the Grand Prix du Salon de Montrouge 2017 and exhibited a solo show at the Palais de Tokyo in 2018. Her work has been shown in France and abroad, at the galerie mfc-michèle didier, the 49 Nord 6 Est – FRAC Lorraine (Metz) and at the Centre Pompidou-Metz. In 2016 she won the prize of the Ville de Grenoble – Le Magasin des Horizons CNAC. She was awarded the Kunstpreis Robert Schuman (Trier, Germany, 2015), the Edward Steichen Award (Luxembourg, 2017), and the AWARE Prize (Paris, 2018).
