Critic and curatorial residency program from Nice

Stay of Frédéric Blancart in December 2018

ACROSS #21 – December 2018

Frédéric Blancart (1991, Montpellier) works as an editor and curator. He lives in Marseille, where he works as communication and residency manager at Triangle France.

In 2016, he founded Colophon, a specialized bookshop dedicated to visual arts self and independent publishing, at Mains d’Œuvres, an cultural center based in Saint-Ouen, a Paris North suburban city. Colophon offers a space for non or not much identified objects. The bookshop is developing as space of discover, encounter and discussion about book and publishing objects. In the shape of Colophon, Frédéric Blancart has curated a public program since 2016 at Mains d’Œuvres with artists, publishers and writers with whom he works.
In 2017, Frédéric Blancart was involved in SUMMER CAMP, artists residency founded by Jimmy Richer, French artist in 2013, and based in a village near to Perigueux, France. SUMMER CAMP aims to be an encounter platform for young and emergent artists, allowing them to work and intervene in a rural environment. This shape of the research residency is for Frédéric the means of putting into perspective the question of production and, more broadly, the gradual abandonment of the exhibition as a final shape for artistic and aesthetic research, allowing him a displacement between ongoing works and publics.
In addition, he has developed a curatorial practice that brings together art criticism and social sciences, alongside other artists and curators of his generation.
